Fabulist is designed to work without collecting personal data.
It does not require an account, sign-in, or any personal identifying information. It does not run its own server — there is no backend collecting or storing your data anywhere. It does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind. It does not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
All of your data — your Passport stamps, notes, photos you attach, and saved ("Intrigued") places — is stored locally on your device, and may sync through your own iCloud account if you have iCloud enabled. Fabulist does not run a server of its own and does not upload this information anywhere outside of your own iCloud account.
Fabulist uses your device's location, while the app is in use, to find nearby points of interest. Your coordinates are sent to Wikipedia's public search API solely to retrieve nearby results — the same request Wikipedia's own website or app would make for a "nearby" search. Fabulist does not store your location history, and your location is never linked to any personal identity or used for advertising or tracking.
If you choose to attach a photo to a Passport entry, it is selected through Apple's standard photo picker and stored only inside Fabulist's own local (and, if enabled, iCloud-synced) data. Fabulist does not have general access to your photo library and does not upload your photos anywhere else.
